I have gone in and installed the AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler on a few of my Macs with the "n" capability, and have been noticing some "weirdness".
I admit, right now I do not have an 802.11n Access Point, however I have tried setting up Network Sharing through an iMac, Mac Pro and Macbook Pro.
iMac as Host: 130Mbps
Mac Pro as Host: 108Mbps
Macbook Pro as Host: 54Mbps
In each of these cases, the Network Utility shows the cards as 802.11 a/b/g/n.
When these same systems are running Windows XP under Bootcamp with the unofficial 802.11n drivers, the link speeds will consistently report 300Mbps on all of the systems.
All of these computers are running Mac OS X 10.4.9 (Developer Seed 8P2122).
Are these results typical for most people?
It would be nice to see which speed in the Draft-N Specification Apple decided to go with before dropping money on the new Base Station and AppleTV.
