airport extreme and expand coverage area

I want to hook up another router or access point via ethernet to my airport extreme. Will an airport express serve this function or will any other router that is hooked up via ethernet to the extreme serve this function?

An AirPort Express will work fine. Most any router can be configured to work, but the AirPort is the more seamless method!
