So I have an airport extreme.

I am planning on getting an airport express, to use exclusively for airtunes.

I have a Palm Pre (it's wifi is only b/g not N)

If I use the Palm Pre on my airport extreme, it lowers my wifi connection to G speeds as opposed to N.

Can I make the airport express run on G only but still extend the extreme's wifi (running on N)?

the newer AEBS's are real dual band wifi so it will simultaneously broadcast N + G so that all other wifi connections aren't reduced to the slowest device.

edit: actually think i read the last part wrong about setting the express the G only, but I can check my network once i get home this evening. I have that setup as well with an AEBS and xpress set to extend, just not 100% that the express has a setting for G only but 75% sure it does. i'll get back to you.

you can do that if you hardwire (ethernet) the express.

under internet set connection sharing to "off (bridge mode)"
set up the wireless SSID and security how you want it, this will be a different name than your N network.
when you select radio mode, alt-click and you will get more options including the one you want.
