I know that you can connect an Airport Express to a switch to allow non-wireless devices to have internet connections. Can you do the same with an Airport Extreme?
I already have wireless internet. However, the router is in another room away from my entertainment center, which has several internet-ready devices. I would like to connect these devices (DVR, Blu-Ray player, game system) via cable to a switch that then connects wirelessly to my network.
I do not want to run an ethernet cable through several rooms to reach the entertainment center.
It appears from searching the Internet that the Express will allow me to use it as a wireless bridge and then connect it to a multi-port switch. However, is this possible for the Extreme? If it were, it looks like it could be used as the switch itself, given its wired ethernet ports. Can the Extreme be used to simply extend the range of the existing wireless network and used for my entertainment center set-up? or is it just a wireless router and nothing more?
Thanks in advance for any info!
