I currently use a AE Gigabit 2007 for our home wireless network.

I understand the current generation (late 2009) has a few technical differences [advances] but am wondering if they translate to any tangible differences in experience in the real world?

(or to put it more plainly, should I invest £101 for one of the current generation from the UK Refurb store?)

Thanks in advance for your input.

So the hype in the sales blurb about improved antenna performance isn't significant enough for the user to appreciate?

Top two advantages: simultaneous dual band - great for a mixed g/n environment, 3 stream capable - 450 mbps with the right client.

I'm only running N devices, and no fancy clients, so will I notice no difference then?

Is there no significant performance or range boost in the 'real world'?

I currently have the 2007 AirPort Extreme & wished I have gotten the newer model. I have a few wireless devices that use 5GHz N & I got an AirPort Express to do that as I also have many 2.4GHz B/G devices to be 5GHz only. I would have rather just had 1 device handling it. The airport express did allow me to stream music to my surround system so it's still worth having. But differentially wait till after WWDC to buy anything as who knows what they might just bring out as their "one more thing"
