airport extreme base station question

hello, Im currently in college and the wifi signal here is awful. Skyping is almost impossible. I'm wondering if buying an airport extreme base station would help the strength of the signal?

Can anyone see any potential problems as to why this might not work? I want to be sure if I'm going to spend almost $200 on it.

It likely wouldn't. You're also probably not allowed to connect unapproved access points to the campus network.

You'd be better off asking this question of your college/university Tech support so they can tell you of any specific restrictions or brands. Who knows, they may even have some available on the cheap

(Probably not AEBSs though)
