I use a Macbook and my wife uses a Thinkpad. We both connect to our Airport Extreme Base Station (current version). Sometimes I look at the Airport Utility and go to the Wireless Clients page. I can see that both machines are connected.

Our network name is the same for both the 2.4 and 5ghz frequencies. So both laptops will connect to the one that is strongest automatically. Here's what's weird: I can see that the Thinkpad will sometimes connect to one network, then disconnect and connect to the other. This is based on seeing the MAC address disappear and reappear with the other network frequency listed. My wife has never complained that her internet connection is dropping (I guess it isn't). This happens even when she is just a few feet away from the router.

So the issue isn't a real connection problem - on the contrary, this AEBS is much better than our previous non-Apple router. But why would it look like her laptop is dropping and reconnecting once every few minutes? This does not happen with the Macbook.
