AirPort Extreme Base Station with Billion 5200n

Hi there, i currently have a Billion 5200n dsl router.
is it worth me getting the latest AirPort Extreme Base Station and using the Billion 5200n as just a modem and use the AirPort as the wireless router ? would i see a difference in speed? stability of connection? and Range?
