Airport Extreme card 1026

I'm trying to put this card from a non-working G5 Imac into a G4 Emac and when I open the network preferences I keep getting this message that Your network settings have been changed by another application. I'm unable to turn on the airport and have to force quit to get out of system preferences, Any ideas. The card worked in the before the G5 quit.
