AirPort Extreme causes main computer no internet.

Hi,

I have AirPort Extreme and I took out the router white plug and put it in my AirPort Extreme but then it makes my desktop computer unable to connect to the internet. (It has no WiFi.) I was wondering if I can have internet on my desktop computer and use the AirPort Extreme at the same time without any problems.
