Airport Extreme Configuration

I have an Airport Extreme in following configuration:

Cable Modem>Router>Airport Extreme

I no longer need the Router above and removed it. Now Airport Extreme does not work. I suspect I have confused Airport Extreme by connecting it directly to the Cable Modem.

Can someone please help me to recover ?

Is the AirPort Extreme listed in AirPort Utility? If it is, you should be able to configure it in there. Also, have you tried unplugging the Cable Modem and the Extreme for about a minute and reconnecting them both? The last thing you could try is resetting it. Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ

Make sure you are no longer using a PPOE connection if you were previously.
