Ok I've played with an airport extreme at my old roomates place, but now I'm on my own and bought one for myself. I'm now using it to connect my external drive just as I did at my old place without issue, but now something kinda strange is happening.

The external drive I'm using it 500gb and it's partitioned in half: one for storing files and the other for Time Machine. Once I saw the drive in finder under the router's name under "Shared", the storage drive mounted and I was able to use it just fine. However, I just tried mounting the other partition by doing the same thing (opening finder, clicking on the router and then the drive), but something is going wrong. When I click on the router, it says "Connection Failed" at the top of the finder window, which is strange because I didn't have that happen back at my old roomates place. Strangely, if I remove the storage drive, then try to connect the Time Machine one, it works, but then I can't access the other.

So, it seems, that it's only letting me use one at a time, which again, wasn't an issue with my roomates Airport Extreme. Can someone figure out why it's only letting me use one at a time and how to fix it?
