airport extreme? do i need to install it?

hi, i was wondering if i need to bother with the airport extreme install cd that comes with my 15inch PB? isnt the airport extreme already built in? if so why is there an install cd? i have just updated to 10.2.8 does this update include stuff for the airport ex, or do i still need to do somthing with the install cd? thanks andy
