I have a 4th Generation Airport Extreme that has been dropping connections continuously for months. I have tried all the suggestions I have found (even leaving Airport Utility open to increase stability...which actually works!) but to no avail. I have a virtually all Mac environment: Hardwired to the Extreme is a Mac Mini and 1 Airport Express. There are another 2 Airport Expresses connected wirelessly. Also have 2 MBPs, 2 iPhones, Apple TV (older, not sure which Gen.). The connections to the wirelessly connected Airport Expresses drop pretty regularly, as does the Apple TV. I do have a somewhat challenging environment, living in a 4 story townhouse, but that is not the issue. When connected, I have a full signal on the 3rd floor (Extreme is on the 1st floor, hard wired Express is on the 4th floor). When the Extreme drops the connection, I can see on Airport Utility on my iPhone that the Express on the 4th floor is still connected, and the Mini are connected. I can actually connect wirelessly through the Express, but not as good a signal. If I restart Extreme, it clears everything up...temporarily. I'm thinking I may just have a buggy Extreme. I'm considering swapping it out for a 5th Gen, since the output is so much better. Before I pull the plug, any other suggestions? Any factors I'm not considering?
