I have an airport express extending my wireless network from my airport extreme base station. I see a transmit rate of 300. I know this is very good but I presume that this is just the transmit rate between my Mac and the airport express - and NOT the transmit rate back to my airport extreme?? So I am probably not getting 300 overall - right? The overall rate back to the extreme is probably a lot less?? Can I measure this?

sub'ed for curiosity. I have this setup too and would love to know what kind of speed i'm getting. And if it's smart enough to know that while the extreme is farther away, it might have a stronger connection and faster transfer than the closer express.

Open up Airport Utility, do a manual setup on the AEBS and then click on Advanced (the gear wheel) then on Logs and Statistics and finally Wireless Clients. This will show the details of each wireless client connected to it, you will then need to check the MAC address of the AE and match it in that list.

You can do the same on the AE as well.
