Airport extreme external hd problem

My problem or question is... I have an AEBS and an WD 1TB hd that I would like to use to stream movies and music to other macs and pc's in my house and have hardwired to my mini. This is no problem when i use the usb connection on the HD. But if i try to use the firewire connection at the same time to my mini (for faster downloads of torrents and such) it will no longer recognize the usb, only the FireWire. Is HD capable of allowing use of both the firewire (to the mini) and the usb (to the AEBS) at the same time? If not any suggestions on conquering this feat? my movies and tv shows are the main focus as my itunes can easily be networked through itunes itself.

As far as I know, this can't be done. It's one or the other with hard drives, and not both. If you want the network capabilities and the speeds, I would suggest a gigabit NAS connected to your AEBS.
