My airport extreme says it needs to update the firmware - but just kinda sits and never actually does anything... is there a fix? anyone else experiencing this?

It's a plot! The "download" icon simply takes me to another page that tells me how to download...but no success...

Ohhhhh...tricky...sorry, I didn't even try the link before posting it, that was my mistake...Have you tried hard resetting/factory resetting the base station and trying to update the firmware? The only difference between a hard/factory reset is you unplug the base station from power and then plug it back in with the reset button already held on. The hard reset is just holding the reset button until the LED flashes. Regrettably, both these resets clear your settings from the base station so you'll have to set up the base station from scratch which may not be too painful depending on what you have it set up to do, or whether there are client AirPort base stations linked to this unit.
