Just set up a new airport extreme but having problems with the share disk feature.

I have connected a hard disk to the usb slot on the Airport extreme that shows up in the airport utility but can't seem to find access the drive anywhere on my macbook,

Its not mounted on the desktop like it should be??

well how do i access the the hard disk connected to my airport extreme on my mac?

Your network disk should appear in your sidebar as a 'shared' device. Most likely titled whatever you named your network or 'airport extreme' or whatever. you can mount it that way.

It should automatically appear in the side bar in Finder as a network device.

Have you plugged the hard drive on your APE into your computer before? If you haven't, you need to do this and format it to HFS.

A couple things:

- Make sure the share is setup in airport utility (I would apply a password).
- Restart your computer

As others have indicated it should show up in your finder. I'm going off memory, but I think there is a setting in utilities to show (shared drives) in finder. I may be wrong though.

No i only got the APE today and didn't realise i'd have to reformat the hard drive for it to show up?

Without formatting, a drive can't be used by the APE, so you'll need to format it to HFS.

It was formated just in the wrong format, working now thanx

Is there also a way i can access the drive on my iphone?
