Airport Extreme is butt slow

Hey guys, So i just got my brand new Airport Extreme and I was stoked to unbox it, hook it up and away we go. Only problem is that I'm not experiencing retarded transfer rates on transmission after the switch over. I was using a linksys wrt-54gs before, and I am now using the new dualband router. I have already portforwarded for transmission, but still can't seem to consistently hit above even 50kbps. Help
