I have a home FTP server so with my previous router I simply did DHCP with manual address. That option does not work and I found an old apple support article that says to use manual.

So I put same IP address, subnet make, and router IP as what was displayed under the using DHCP option but I can't get the internet to work with that.

Any suggestions?

I should mention that I previously was connecting to a linksys via wifi. I am now connected via ethernet to an airport extreme.

I am so frustrated right now, spent hours trying to figure this out. I can't get the internet to work unless it is setup as DHCP...

Please help!

Ended up calling apple support on this one.

I needed to go into AirPort utility:
1. Click edit on router
2. Go to network tab
3. Change router mode to DHCP and Nat
4. Add a DHCP reservation
5. Input my macs Mac address (found under about this mac, system report, wifi)
6. Save the IP it auto generated to clipboard
7. Go into system pref, network, dhcp with manual ip, enter in that Ip address.

Hope this saves someone some time!
