The AirPort is best for simplicity, reliability, and stability. The ASUS and Linksys are a bit faster and more configurable.
I went with the Asus RT-AC87U and am pretty pleased so far. The speeds and the degree to which it can be configured are great.
In the long run... Get any router that is configurable and has detachable antennas over an Airport Extreme.I've got an Airport Extreme, and basically all I use it for now is a glorified time capsule.
Yes, they're more stable, but you can't configure them, nor can you access them via SSH, or HTML like every other router out there and you wont ever know how long it will be until Apple decides to abandon support for the Airport Utility for your router.
