I removed the battery on a friends PB today, and found that there was something in the Airport slot. This puzzled me as I had used the machine several times before, and I had never seen anything that could mean that there was a card installed.

So I pull out the card and indeed it's an Airport Extreme card! But no matter what I do it won't show up. Any ideas?

Very weird, is there any warranty on the Book? You should call Apple if it's not recognizing AirPort support in the Network System Preferences or with the AirPort Setup Assistant.

Just making sure that it's not me doing something wrong here :)

Just in case, have you checked the connections? It can be very tough to install in a PB, so if it was hand installed after purchase or something it could just not be seated properly.
