Airport Extreme pwned me need help!

I was trying to setup up my new Airport extreme with my 2Wire modem with At&t but when i connected everything (correctly) and i got no internet whatsoever and my 2Wire modem is blinking red when the Airport Extreme is connected (it has a solid green led) once i disconnect the Airport Extreme and connect everything back to the 2Wire i get my internet back and everything is green.

What am i doing wrong?? Thanks!

when changing what is plugged into your modem, you need to unplug the modem from power, swap the ethernet, and plug the modem back in.

Yeah i did that and then i plugged in the power for the Airport Extreme as well, i also want only the Airport Extreme to be used and online, how do i do that? Thanks for your help
btw this is the newest AE model.
