Airport Extreme question

When I connect to an Airport Extreme Base Station, the connection shows up as 270Mbps which I know is only a theoretical maximum. When I connect to a Linksys 802.11n router (WRT150n), the connection shows up only as 130Mbps.

I'm just wondering what accounts for the difference.
