I just bought an Airport Extreme a couple of days ago.

I installed the software and ran the setup utility. My Apple TV, iBook, PC (gaming only rig) and Xbox 360 all found the wireless network I created and they are all working great.

The thing that is driving me crazy is the amber light is flashing on the front of the Airport Extreme. I know I *shouldn't* let it bother me because everything is working but in the manual it states that it *should* be a solid green. When the light flashes amber it indicates that "AirPort cannot establish a connection to the network or Al Gore's intraweb".

What gives?

Is this a constant problem, even when traffic is really light? Sometimes when the Extreme is under heavy traffic it will be so busy that the little gizmo that monitors the internet connection will flicker.

in the airport utility, go to the summary
base stations status will be listed - yours will have an amber dot (not green)
click on it, and set it to ignore this warning (or something like this)
your airport will reset, and the light will now be green

mine did this because I set it as an open network (hence the amber light)

Ha! Worked like a charm! Thanks! I too chose an unsecure network....I guess I was feeling in a giving mood. :D
