Hi all,

Just got my Extreme and had a couple of questions for those experienced users;

1. 5Ghz Network - do you enabled 5Ghz but then mark it as 'hidden' to help prevent 2 SSID's being broadcast? If it's hidden, is it still enabled and doing what it's supposed to?

2. Guest Networking - Is it worth switching on? We live in a small-ish place with not many visitors, so chances of it being used are slim, but thought maybe turn it on just on the off chance

Thanks in advance :)

In reply to #2 you could always just leave it off and then if someone comes around just switch it on, just takes the tick of a box and a restart of the extreme :)

I always have my SSIDs as hidden. Just force of habit. I also have weird characters in the SSID.

IMO leave Guest network OFF unless actually needed.

Great, thanks.

So the 5Ghz, enable it, but don't broadcast the SSID?
I can't see the option to hide/not broadcast an SSID like I could on my old Netgear.

Somewhere on the Airport settings, there is a Hide Network setting. Look in Advanced WiFi or Network.
