Airport extreme speeds

I'm new to the wifi world. I have a 20 mb/s adsl connection. I've recently purchased an airport extreme base station. When I go wireless I 'only' get speeds up to 5,7 mb/s. Does anyone have an idea to up the speed on airport or is this the limit for G?
