My Airport Extreme Base Station started acting up and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on my issues.
Quick background: I have a macbook running leopard (fully updated) along with windows xp pro through bootcamp. The AEBS has worked flawlessly to provide wireless internet on both windows and mac for many months.
Yesterday, while on the windows partition, my internet went down. Windows claimed I was receiving an "excellent" wireless signal, but the status remained stuck on "acquiring IP address." I then switched back over to the mac partition to find that my connection had gone dead there as well. Using a combination of airport utility and hardware resets I am able to get a wireless connection on the Mac OS.
However, anytime I reboot (into either windows or mac) I completely lose the connection. In windows I get nothing (same status stuck on "acquiring IP address" while telling me the signal is "excellent") and on mac I have to jump through the process of resetting the hardware and reconfiguring the settings with the airport utility.
Needless to say I'm extremely frustrated. This network worked without any problems and I see no catalyst for yesterday's sudden demise in performance. It seems that the problem has something to do with assigning IP addresses, but I see no other way than to have the router do that automatically, which it has been doing well for some time. Any help would be most appreciated. I'm especially lost on the windows side.
