Okay, here's the situation.

In the living room, there's an AirPort Extreme (latest gen) in the living room. The Extreme is connected to the cable modem. My 2011 iMac is connected to the Extreme outside via Ethernet so I can get the fastest speeds possible.

I would like to set up a Time Capsule in my room that has the iMac, so I can use that to not only back up the iMac, but also to connect some legacy equipment via Ethernet in my own room.

Now, supposing that all other wired connections to the TC are off, would I see similar speeds when the iMac is connected via Ethernet to the TC which is connected via Ethernet to the Extreme compared to when the iMac was connected via Ethernet to the Extreme?

This will depend on whether there is any link in the chain that isn't using Gigabit Ethernet.

Airport Extreme uses Gigabit.
iMac - how old is it? Does it use Gigabit ?
Legacy Equipment - what is it ? Is it in the chain between AE and iMac ?
Are there any Switches in the chain ?

If everything uses Gigabit Ethernet, then any combination of any order of equipment will see roughly the same data rates. Nothing is blocking or saturating network connections.
