I just fired up my Airport Utility for my Airport Extreme and I found a firmware update. It brings the version up to 7.3.2.

I don't have the current airport, I have the one before the newest one, so I am not sure if this update is for the older models or inclusive of the new one.

I wonder why Apple does not have this show up under Software Update. I would have never have known about this update had I not just been randomly opening my Airport Utility to check something.

This update was released about 2.5 months ago for Time Capsules and Extremes.

But you're right. I wish there was a way to know about these thru Software Update

DOH! See, I would have never known. I don't recall seeing a post by MacRumors about it. I guess I have to go fishing into these forums a bit more from now on.
