airport extreme usb speed

hi all

im thinking of getting a new airport extreme, i have a usb drive and want to use with time machine, easy enough so far.

how fast does it do the backup's at?
i currently backup using just the standard usb drive but its not always plugged in & gets annoying so i want to make it simpler but if the speed isn't there, there is no real point.

any advice is greatly received!

On 10.6.1 mine was plenty fast. Since I went to 10.6.2, it's dropped to a few KB/sec. I think there's either a bug with 10.6.2 or the AEBS is suddenly disliking my Lacie drive.

when you say it dropped by a few kb/sec, is that speed it works at?

i mean im not expecting 2gb in 5 minutes.... surely....

it will be a fair amount slower. if your using Ethernet it won't be so bad wireless dirt slow.

No I'm saying it dropped from a few MB/sec to a few KB/sec.

The other night, I sat down to troubleshoot. I rebooted the AEBS and its external drive and the speed came back.
