I've currently got a Belkin Pre-N router in my house and I'm having probelms betting a strong enough signal in my office (Dual G5) which is in my garden about 40' away. Signal drops out and seldom get omre than 1 bar. Upstairs in the house I get an exceelent signal on mt Macbook.

Does anyone know if the new Apple Extreme base station would/will/does have a better range than the Belkin?

If you use the "N" only option, It boosts to 5.8 Ghz versus 2.4 Ghz with mixed mode G & N. At 5.8Ghz you should see much better reception, but you probably have to update all your wireless cards to draft "N".

My Belkin pre-N has a pretty strong signal, but it depends on the materials that the signal is going through. I have mine in my Attic Office (3rd floor) and it reaches with 4 bars all the way to my kitchen (1st floor) with about 4 bars.

I was thinking about getting one for an entirely different reason, but the Belkin works so well, I may wait.
