Airport Extreme wanders from my network to a neighbor's

How can I stay connected to my own network and stop AE from attempting to connect to wireless networks in the neighborhood?

Open network preferences / advanced and delete the unwanted WiFi.

More information about your network is required. How is your Extreme set up, are you using another router as the main one? blueroom's steps only apply if your computer is joining a neighbor's network, it does nothing to solve your issue as you have described.
