Airport Extreme + WD harddrive, help!

Hey guys!

I currently have a Airport Extreme and a WD External Hard drive 2tb plugged into it. It all works okay, but when i stream movies to my MBP it "lags" a lot! is it because I'm streaming through wifi or is my hard drive to big? What could solve this problem?

If i would get an apple tv would i have the same problem? Can i even stream movies from my external hard drive to a apple tv over wifi?

Between USB 2.0 and Wifi, it's probably going to lag.

And yeah, you'd probably get the same issues with Apple TV, although I've never used one. What year Extreme do you have?

not the newest one that they released a couple of months ago but the version before
