Right now I currently have a Actiontec mi424wr that has single band 802.11n. I get about 30-35 mbps DL and 20 mbps UL using wifi (I'm paying for 50 DL/25 UL). I was wondering whether or not it would be worth it to get a airport extreme AC version and bridge it with my actiontec router.

Do you have computers with AC wireless hardware? If not then you probably won't gain anything by getting an AirPort Extreme AC. If you do then you should see a significant difference in your Transmit Rate. I definitely see a difference. It's especially noticeable when downloading big updates and during Time Machine backups.

I too have an Actiontec router for my internet service (not sure what model it is, but it's a few years old). I put it in bridge mode and use my AirPort Time Capsule as my router.
