Airport forgets wireless password when I have connectivity issues

Sometimes I lose connection to my router ( or someone elses ) and my natural instinct is to go and try to reconnect by clicking on the network again. I noticed that sometimes my MBP forgets my wireless password when I do this. I have to then go on another computer, log into the administrative section of the router, and get the password from there.

I'm not telling it to forget anything. Why does it ? I'm just clicking on a network name it should already be familiar with.

Does anyone else ever have this issue?
Is there a fix for it?
