Airport help please

Hi
My sister has brought her first Apple computer and on startup she picked the wrong network to connect to(open wi fi),how do i switch the airport on,when i got to the icon at the top there is no option t turn on airport only wi-fi,even in network preferences airport is not listed,also tried the + button to create a new network no avail.
Help please thanks

Not quite following you here... By turning airport on it allows you to pickup Wifi signals. Then turning it off you won't have access.

You joined the wrong wifi network?
