Airport Issue

Each time I open my MBP from sleep, the following three things happen consecutively:

1. Airport will connect
2. Airport will disconnect
3. Airport will connect again

After this, airport stays connected and i have no problems, but it is annoying to have to wait 10 seconds after opening my MBP to get connected. On my older MacBook, I was able to resolve this problem by running a disk permissions repair, however this did not resolve the problem on my MBP. Does anyone know what else I can do to resolve this problem?

How fast does it switch from "connected" to "disconnected" back to "connected" ?
