Is there a way to reinstall the airport software without reinstalling OS X?

I have a flat panel iMac that runs 10.4. One day after a thunderstorm and power outage the Airport stopped working. The wireless network works fine with my other macs. I bought another airport card (128bit) online and installed it.

In the system profiler it says under airport card it says "no information found" however when I run the hardware test that came with OS X.4 it identified the card and serial number and passed the test.

this sounds like an airport card recognition software issue but I do not want to reinstall my entire OS and loose my pics and music

any advice or thoughts before I reformat the whole computer?

If you're router came with software, install it again. (Works especially well with Airport Extreme).
If that doesn't work, or you don't have the software, you could always try an Archive and Install. It archives all of your apps, pics, and movies and reinstalls the OS. It's like installing a new copy of a new OS.
Hope this helps!
