Can this replace the BT HomeHub and is it better for using multiple devices such as iMac, Mac Book, iPhones and iPads in the home? We also have a couple of PC laptops that would need to be on this.

The BT HomeHub is likely also being used as a modem so you would need to switch the BT to bridge mode and configure the TC as the router in DHCP & NAT mode. I have never had any issues with multiple intense clients.
