Hi

New to the forums and after 2-3 years have finally got my self a Mac Pro and Iphone on the way!

I have been looking at NAS to go with my PS3 ext HD and thought Airport Extreme seems a good idea, bit pricey though.

Looking to get one off ebay however I can only see two types the square ones and the ufo type...just wondered what the differences were in the square ones? Dual band etc. What am i missing with older square ones and how can i tell the difference? I know the ufo ones cant take and ex hd so there out.

Thanks for any help

The "UFO" ones don't do 802.11n, and the first square ones weren't dual band.

The VERY first square ones only had 100 megabit Ethernet, but a silent update brought it to gigabit Ethernet.

The current ones are gigabit and dual band.

Hi

Thanks for your response, is there anyway of telling the difference between the square ones?

Ie part numbers models etc?

Just dont want to end up with an old slow version!

Thanks
