For the last few days ive been paying five bucks a day to join one of those fon free internet networks someone setup near my new apartment (my internet hasnt been installed yet) and it was working great til a couple hours ago.
now it just doesnt work (and before someobe says it, no my session has not expired yet). the network shows in my available networks, full strength, but the airport in the menubar has an exclamation point in it now and it will get an ip address, but then say something like 'this comp has ip address xxx but will not be able to connect to the internet.'
diagnostics are of course useless like always, the network settings part on the left has a yellow dot, and the bottom two things (i forget what, shut down the machine frustrated) are red. the other things in the diagnostics list are green. but if i click through the diagnostics it turns all but the first one red.
i see zero reason i should have to screw with anything since it worked flawlessly all week and just completely quit, giving me the 'alert: no internet connection' message.
iphone works fine on it though so its the computer. obviously since this network is from elsewhere, its not my router so i cant mess with or reset the router.
sleeping, restarting, and completely shutting down the computer do nothing at all to help.
ideas? it went from working to not working in the blink of an eye. very frustrating. also on the most current version of os x.
