Longtime Mac user here.
My intel mac has been working great with the airport express, and seemlesslyy runs fine under the windows and mac partitions. However, recently, I've been experiencing problems with connecting to the internet wirelessly.
Using the airport utility on the mac side, I can configure the router, it's not at all like the airport utility on my older macs, and it's acting like it wants to set up a new network connection, even though the internet is working fine.
Why is this problem? Well, I'm trying to fix a problem on the windows partition. Using the Airport utility on the windows portion is impossible as no matter what password I give it (currently I've set the base station password to 'public', the network has no password currently), it returns with the error "could not connect, error -4". Googling this error doesn't send me in any good direction.
I've tried soft and hard resets of my airport express, and I've updated the firmware to v6.3, which actually made things worse. Now, the windows partition (running XP SP2) cannot connect to the internet at all -- there's an X on 'wireless connection'. This is bizarre because the internet still works to a degree, I can use it for several minutes before getting disconnected (reconnecting will not remove the X, neither will refreshing or repairing the network return the status of the connection to 'connected') and interrupting any download or online process. Prior to the firmware update, I was not having any connection troubles.
And what am I trying to do? Just some simple port forwarding. But I'd rather return things to normal. I don't want to reset the network again if I can help it, and I don't know what avenues, even another reset (I don't think it will improve anything), to take.
