While getting my 11 Pro at my local Apple Store this weekend, I picked up a display box for the AirPods and was surprised to see a reference to AirPower still out in the wild. What an odd situation all the way around. Apple really should sanitize their stores of this stuff so people who aren’t aware don’t get confused (or worse, hopeful). I take this as another sign that the AirPower was a matter of days from release when canceled. I wonder if there’s a landfill somewhere in China full of them.

Still wish they could have release it! Was such a great idea. Still trying to find the right combo to charge all my devices.

The Nomad wireless charging pad is a solid option, especially before they increased the price by $20 when Apple scrapped AirPower.

TECHNICALLY there is no mention of “AirPower” on the box. It simply depicts a wireless charging mat that suspiciously looks like the AirPower mat that was metioned a few years back *wink wink nudge nudge.* ;)

What's really insulting here is they want $80 for just the *case*.

The hell, Apple?

But yeah, it makes you wonder. I suspect there was some glaring manufacturing flaw that could start a fire or something, and they cancelled the product rather than try to reengineer it at that late phase, cutting their losses.

I ended up getting the Nomad Base Station Apple Watch Edition and it works very well. On the expensive side but worth it for the convenience of being able to charge iPhone, Watch and AirPods with one device, especially while traveling.

Do you remove the watch charging “stand” while you are traveling? I removed it for packing in a suitcase and reinstalled it when I got to my hotel room. Wondering if repetitively doing so will weaken it or if it’s engineered for such. Thanks.

I remember before AirPower was officially dead, the tech community saw that depiction of it on the box and couldn't contain themselves.

No, have never removed. Just toss it in suitcase or overnight bag.
