Is the Airport Extreme wireless printing completely different from Airprint?

I have a HP CP1025 which is not labelled as Airprint compatible. It has no ethernet socket.

You can buy the same printer with an ethernet socket called CP 1025nw which is labelled as Airprint compatible.

Does Airprint require this printer to be connected to the network via ethernet and not USB to the Airport Extreme? And is the CP1025 definitely not an Airprint printer?

AirPrint printers need a network connection built in to them. Airport Extremes and Expresses share printers via Windows printer sharing, not AirPrint.
