Amazon this week has returned Apple's AirTag 4-Pack to $64.99, down from $99.00. This is a match of the all-time low price on the accessory.

Amazon provides delivery dates as soon as today for Prime members at some residences in the United States, and you won't need to clip an on-page coupon in order to see this deal. If you're shopping for just one AirTag, Amazon has the AirTag 1-Pack for $24.99, which doesn't match the all-time low of $19.99 that we've seen recently, so you might want to hold off for now or consider stepping up to the 4-Pack deal.

Wow... besides the fact that Airtag 2 are probably about to be released... is this offer for Prime members only or for all customers? On Amazon UK they are discounted, yes, but still at a whopping £89, which corresponds to $118.62

True -- but I would suggest that if you're an avid reader of MacRumors in the first place, there is a slightly-better-than-average chance that you already know that the AirTag 2 is somewhat overdue.
Don’t disagree with your logic, my point was more about the motivation to not mention it. To me it feels a bit underhanded. Particularly as you say that most people already know that the AirTags 2’s are coming. Not an editorial decision I’d have made.

I'm pretty sure that, in other occasions when a big discount from a retailer was reported here, they mentioned the fact that a new version of the device was likely to be released soon.

For those of you who use AirTags, what are your thoughts on them? I'd like to hear some opinions.
They can be quite useful. Most of what I have to say would be generally positive; the only criticism I can come up with is this:

When you leave an AirTag behind at a location that is not your "home" or presumably some other address known to be associated with you, your iPhone will warn you that you've left the Tag behind. This is obviously useful in many situations, but it can be mildly annoying if it's simply in your spouse's car when you head home separately from a restaurant or the like... and sharing the location of that Tag with your spouse does not eliminate the warning. But better a warning you know you can ignore than a missed warning that you actually needed, I suppose.

Thank you for the feedback! What is the typical range on these things?

I can't really say that I've tried to analyze that too closely, but I believe they are advertised as having a 30 foot range over Bluetooth, indoors. My experience is, if I've misplaced the Tag at home, it's almost always well within range -- because I typically remember generally where it should be.

The fact that it piggybacks off of other nearby iPhone users is the biggest winning feature, though... as you can still figure out roughly where it is even when it has moved and you're not near it yourself. Suddenly, range is almost meaningless.

There is a setting to disable that. Go the the Airtag in the Find My app and scroll down to "Notify when left behind" and toggle to off.

Sure -- but that doesn't account for my final comment. I have no desire to turn it off entirely, as that would defeat the purpose; I'd rather have it turned on and deal with the mild inconvenience of periodic notifications that I don't need, rather than turn it off and have no notification when I do need it.
