I'm relatively new to using Air Tags, so I have a question:

I have 4 AirTags attached to various items. I can't find one of them (even after checking last location seen), so I think it may have been accidentally thrown out in the trash.

If I put the missing AirTag in Lost Mode, will it automatically disable my Apple Pay? I don't want it to do that.

As far as I know, those protections only go into place if your devices capable of payments, like an iPhone/Watch, were to be put into lost mode, not your AirTags.

there are 3 types of things that Find My helps locate.
Devices. Watches and iPhones that can have ApplePay function on them.
People. Tracked by showing where they are moving around or actively using a device.
Items. Things that you attach an Air Tag to, such as keys, or, heaven forbid, a dog.
If you put an Item into lost mode, since there is absolutely no ApplePay functionality capability associated with anything that can be an Item, you don't need to worry about anything to do with Apple Pay that is on any of your actual Devices, which are being tracked separately from Items.

Lost Mode on an Item can not disable anything. Lost Mode on an Item only allows you to have other people who find that Item to read a message how to contact you.

Lost Mode on a Device will disable any ApplePay functionality you have on that device.
