I ended up having to change batteries on both my Airtag and now both stop making sound when trying to locate it. Tried two different brand of batteries same results. Factory reset both and still no sound. Any other suggestions?

did they beep when you put the battery in?
does precision finding work?
have they updated their location since you did the battery?

the batteries with bitterant (sour coating to keep kids from eating them) sometimes have problems working, as the coating is applied in the same place the battery contacts are in the AirTag. check your battery package, it should mention if it has the coating. Some of the newer batteries have started applying the coating in a different place so it works. If you did get the bitterant batteries, you can clean the coating off with some alcohol.

Yes it does beep when I insert the new battery in. Everything else works but no sound when I try to locate it. Thought maybe it’s the brand of battery so I got Panasonic CR2032 3.0 which I heard works great with AirTag. I don’t see the coating on the battery so I really don’t know why it’s not working correctly. A bit of a year so I can’t send them to Apple for repair.

you probably won't be able to see the coating on the actual battery. It should be marked on the cardboard package it came in. It may be labeled on the battery. Or you just could give the battery a lick :p. Beeping when you put it in and everything else working is a decent sign that the coating isn't your problem though.

I would try force quitting and re-starting the find my app, or maybe just go to a phone reboot.
