I would like to use my first AirTag on the carry-on bag I use for both domestic and international travel.
I am wondering if the AirTag will be an issue at airport security check points?
I know that in TSA check-points and some international airports, I must remove my cellular Apple Watch and pass through in a bowl.
In any event, my carry-on bag is often the only luggage with me to various international destinations and there are not a few situations when the precise location would be an advantage.

I have one on my keyring & Ive been on a few flights & no issues at all going through TSA.

I normally dump all my electronics in my bag before I get anywhere near the scanners, Either in line if it's long, or before I get in if there's no-one there. Everything in my pockets goes into my backpack. keys, wallet (minus ID), coins, phone, watch, belt.
and that joins whatever other electronics are already in my bag chargers, cables, iPad, USB battery pack.

although lately with electronic boarding passes, I'll keep my phone out, along with my ID.
phone and ID go into the bag once they've been checked.

then the laptop comes out of the bag to go through the scanner.

don't have to worry about taking it all out of pockets, or putting it all back in the right ones while at security. Just slide the laptop back in, shoes on, and off you go.

And if you're running really late, you can even refill your pockets once you get on the plane.

never had a problem, and been doing it this way since before the TSA existed.
maybe once or twice they might dig a bit, but normally just go right through.

except for tiny airports (I'm looking at you MTJ) even with pre-check they search everyones bag.

That is my routine also and it makes things so much easier.

I have used EBP on my iW for years on domestic and international flights. I keep the iPhone handy, however, in case something goes wrong with one of the scanners but that is extremely rare.
Due to the nature of my work, I travel wearing a 'sportscoat' and that gets me through most of these hurdles. My carry-on has a small pocket on top (when laid flat on the belt) where I can ditch the iW along with the iP when going through the scanner. My iPad is in a pocket just below this and readily available once into a lounge. AirPods, cables, etc. are in a used business class amenity kit that is easily retrieved through another porch once seated in the airplane.
Just curious that you remove your belt when you have Pre-Check.

You have to remove your Apple Watch so it doesn't set off the metal detector as you walk through. Also why you usually have to remove your belt and often times shoes. (there's other reasons why many airports want your shoes going through the x-ray machine) :) Some of those are ridiculously sensitive (I have a friend with a metal plate in his head - he has to get "wanded" every time).

Also heard of some hip replacements setting them off...heh...and some overly-zealous security folks doing some strip searches because of it. :)

I do not remember having to remove my iW prior to getting cellular so is that a false memory? Of course, even TSA scanners and particular international airports sometimes will pick up everything.
I think the USA uses the nude-a-scope for arriving international passengers more than the average international airport.

I'm not saying others haven't had issue but I'm 100% sure I've worn my Apple Watch through airport security before because I remember being surprised it didn't set it off. Then again sometimes my tennis shoes set off the metal detector at my home airport when at other airports they don't.

I've flown many, many times while wearing an Apple Watch and have never been asked to remove it before passing through the metal detectors/x-ray machines or whatever those are.

This has morphed into a debate on AW. Read: Airtag
One could argue without fear of contradiction that I hijacked my own thread. However, one common theme remains about which electronics are problematic for a variety of airport security scanners.
