I have an Airport Extreme, a couple of Airport Express with Airtunes and ATV with Airtunes. My problem is that when I select multiple speakers under iTunes, the music stutters and often just stops playing.

It's a lot more reliable with only one speaker selected.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

The Express do not extend the network, they just play music.

You have having a bandwidth problem. I have that when streaming over b and trying to do anything else online, even the Gmail Notifier causes some studder.

Try using the Airport Expresses to extend the network or try being wired to one. You could also disable any internet connection on your network.

A little more info here.

I am hoping to install a reliable multi-room system using iTunes, rather than buy a Sonos system. So I am happy to buy more equipment if necessary. One idea was to host the iTunes application and library on a dedicated Mac Mini, and use an iPod touch as the remote controller. It all sounds great, but it has to work.

We also have kids and a lot of family Internet traffic in the evenings, when we are trying to play music around the house.

Any ideas?
